1. Security posture
Look for platforms that publish their security model in plain language: how credentials are stored, how withdrawals are authorized, and whether TOTP two-factor authentication is enforced on withdrawals and profile changes.
Serious platforms segregate customer funds from operating funds, use hardware-backed key management for hot wallets, and keep the majority of assets in cold storage with multi-party approval on movement.
Ask whether identity verification (KYC) documents are stored in a private, access-controlled bucket and whether administrative actions on investor accounts are written to an internal audit trail.
2. Fees and total cost
Fee headlines are rarely the full picture. Compare deposit fees, network/withdrawal fees, spread on conversions, and any performance or management fee on managed products.
For fixed-ROI plans, verify that the advertised return is net of platform fees and that the term and payout schedule are stated explicitly before you commit capital.
A well-run platform makes every applicable fee visible on the confirmation screen — before you click confirm, not buried in a fee schedule PDF.
3. Custody and asset support
Confirm which chains and assets are actually supported for deposit and withdrawal — not just for trading. BTC on the Bitcoin network and USDT on ERC-20 remain the two most portable options for most investors.
Ask whether withdrawals are paid to any verified address on your profile or restricted to a whitelist. Whitelisting reduces the blast radius of a credential compromise.
For staking or yield products, understand who holds the keys, whether principal is locked, and what happens to your position if the platform suspends the product.
4. How strategies are managed
A platform can be a pure exchange, a managed-strategy provider, or a hybrid. Managed strategies should disclose the mandate (long-only BTC, DeFi blue-chip basket, staking, etc.), the term, and how the ROI is generated.
Look for real-time performance dashboards, downloadable statements, and per-position timelines that show every state change on your investment — not just an end-of-term number.
Avoid any platform that will not tell you what it does with your capital between deposit and payout.
